5U - SchoolYard Division Guidelines

Regional Commissioner and 5U Master Coach


"Coach Kim" currently serves as the Regional Commissioner as well as the Master Coach in the School Yard (5U) division . Kim has been a part of the AYSO Organization for over 24 years serving on Section, Area and Regional boards. Coach Kim is not only a Coach, she is an Advanced Coach Instructor, Advanced Management Instructor and an Advanced Coach. Coach Kim's unique and fun style of coaching is perfect for our little ones who eat up what she's serving every weekend. If you ask Coach Kim, every age group is her favorite!

6U Division Guidelines

Players: 

• 6U has a Boys Division and a Girls Division 
• For Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 players in this division were born in 2015 and 2014 


Practices and Games:


• Practices and games are at Summerlin Community Park.
• Heading the ball in practices and games is banned for 6U Division players
• An indirect kick will be awarded to the opposing team if a 6U Division player deliberately heads the ball during a match.
• Training of throw-in technique may not begin until the 8U Division.
• The possessing player may pass-in (kick) the ball from the touchline. Opposing players must be at least to (2) yards from the ball until it is kicked.


Volunteers:

•Two (2) coaches per team
• Coaches: Safe Haven, CDC Concussion Awareness and 6U Certified.


Tournaments: 

6U Divisions do not have a year-end tournament.

8U Division Guidelines

Players:

 

* 8U has a Boys Division and a Girls Division
* For Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 players in this division were born in 2011 and 2012

Practices and Games:

 

  • Practices and games are at Summerlin Community Park.
    • Heading the ball in practices and games is banned for 8U Division players
    • An indirect kick will be awarded to the opposing team if an 8 U Division player deliberately heads the ball during a match.
    • Training of throw-in technique may begin at 8U.
    • The possessing player may throw-in or pass-in (kick) the ball from the touchline.
    Opposing players must be at least to (2) yards from the ball until it is thrown in or kicked.
Equipment:

 

  • Ball Size: 3
  • Shin guards must be worn under the socks, next to the skin, and cannot be exposed.No player will be allowed to participate without shin guards.
  • Soccer cleats are recommended, although gym shoes or sneakers are permissible.
  • Players are encouraged to bring their own soccer ball and water bottle. Please remember to write your last name on your soccer ball and personal items.

  • Two (2) coaches per team
    • Coaches: Safe Haven, CDC Concussion Awareness and 8U Certified.
Tournaments:

 

  • 8U Divisions do not have a year-end tournament

10U Division Guidelines

Players:

 

  • 10U has a Boys Division and a Girls Division
  • For Spring 2019 players in this division were born in 2011 and 2010
Practices and Games:

 

  • Practices and games are at Summerlin Community Park. 

Heading the ball in practices and games is banned for 10U Division players 
An indirect kick will be awarded to the opposing team if a 10U Division player deliberately heads the ball during a match.
10U Division Goalkeepers shall not punt the ball.
An indirect kick will be awarded to the opposing team at the spot of the offense if a 10U Division Goalkeeper punts the ball during a match.
Build-Out Line (10U Division) will be used to develop technical skills

Build-Out Line (10U Division):

 

    1. The build-out line shall be placed across the field equidistant between the top of the penalty area and the halfway line.
    2. The opposing team must move behind the build-out line for a goal kick or when the goalkeeper has possession. At any time, the goalkeeper may pass, throw or roll the ball to a teammate who is behind the build-out line.
    3. The goalkeeper or the player taking the goal kick does not have to wait for the opposing players to move behind the build-out line. The play from the goalkeeper or from the goal kick must be played to a teammate behind the build-out line. After the ball is put into play, the opposing team can then cross the build-out line and play may resume as normal. The first touch is from the goal kick or the pass from the goalkeeper.
    4. The build-out line shall be used as the line to determine offside. Players cannot be penalized for an offside offense between the halfway line and the build-out line.

Tournaments:

  • Each team will participate in the Region 1258 year-end tournament.
  • Summerlin Region 1258 Fall 2019 10U championship teams will participate in the Area 1S Tournament in Bullhead City, Arizona,

12U Division Guidelines

Players:

 

  • 12U has a Boys Division and a Girls Division
  • For Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 players in this division were born in 2007 and 2008
Teams:

 

  • Maximum Roster: Twelve (12) players per team.
  • Numbers: Nine players per team on the field, including a goalkeeper. Games may not start or continue if there are less than seven players on a team.
  • Substitutions: Between quarters, at halftime and for injuries.
  • Games may not start or continue if there are less than 6 players on a team.
  • Playing Time: Minimum of three (3) quarters per game and no player shall play four (4) quarters until everyone has played three (3) quarters.
Practices and Games:

 

  • Practices and games are at Summerlin Community Park
  • Heading the ball in practices and games is banned for 12U Division players.
  • An indirect kick will be awarded to the opposing team if a 12U Division player deliberately heads the ball during a match.
  • 12U Division Goalkeepers are allowed to punt the ball.

  • Two (2) coaches per team
  • Coaches: Safe Haven, CDC Concussion Awareness and 12U Certified.
Tournaments:

 

  • Each team will participate in the AYSO Region 1258 year-end tournament.

14U Division Guidelines

Players:

 

  • 14U is a Co-Ed Division
  • Spring 2019 players in this division were born in 2007 and 2006
Practices and Games:

 

  • Practices and games are at Summerlin Community Park
  • Heading the ball in practices and games is allowed for 14U Division players. 

 

Volunteers:

 

  • Two (2) coaches per team
  • Coaches: Safe Haven, CDC Concussion Awareness and 14U Certified
Tournaments:
  • Each team will participate in the AYSO Region 1258 year-end tournament
  • Fall 2019 14U championship teams will participate in the Area 1S Tournament in Bullhead City, Arizona

16U and 18U Division Guidelines

Players:

 

  • 16U and 18U is a Co-Ed Division
  • Spring 2019 players in this division were born in 2001 to 2005
Practices and Games:

 

  • Location: Practices and games are at Summerlin Community Park.

     

Volunteers:

 

  • Two (2) coaches per team
  • Coaches: Safe Haven, CDC Concussion Awareness and 16U and 18U Certified

Tournaments:


• Each team will participate in the Summerlin Region 1258 year-end tournament
