"Coach Kim" currently serves as the Regional Commissioner as well as the Master Coach in the School Yard (5U) division . Kim has been a part of the AYSO Organization for over 24 years serving on Section, Area and Regional boards. Coach Kim is not only a Coach, she is an Advanced Coach Instructor, Advanced Management Instructor and an Advanced Coach. Coach Kim's unique and fun style of coaching is perfect for our little ones who eat up what she's serving every weekend. If you ask Coach Kim, every age group is her favorite!

Division Coordinator: Gene Leed

Players:
Summerlin Region 1258 has a U6 Boys Division and a U6 Girls Division.
For Spring 2020 and Fall 2020 players in this division were born in 2015.

Players’ Equipment and Ball

  • Soccer Ball: Size 3
  • Footwear: Soccer shoes are recommended (or similar type athletic shoes). The type and condition of cleated shoes must be inspected for safety before use.
  • Shin Guards: Mandatory for both practices and games. Shin guards must be covered entirely by socks.
  • Game Jerseys and Socks: Game jerseys and socks are provided by AYSO Region 1258.

Practices and Games:

  • Practice Frequency and Duration: One (1) practice each week … maximum 30 minutes
  • Game Frequency and Duration: One (1) game each week … maximum 30 minutes
  • Practice Locations: Summerlin Community Park
  • Game Locations: Summerlin Community Park
  • Supervision of Players:
    A ratio of one adult for every eight (8) or fewer players must be followed
    At least two adults must be present at all practices and in the coaching box at games
    At least one adult needs to be the same gender as the players
    One of the supervising adults may be an AYSO certified team parent.

Techniques:

  • Dribbling … Using the feet to maintain possession of the ball while moving
  • Instep Kick (laces) … Used to kick the ball for long passes and shots on goal
  • Throw-In … Used to restart play after the entire ball has crossed the touchline … the opposing players must be at least two (2) yards from the ball until it is thrown in.
  •  Heading the ball in practices and games is banned for all U6 Division players. An indirect kick will be awarded to the opposing team if a U6 Division player deliberately heads the ball during a match.

Build-­‐Out Line (U10 Division):

  • The Build-Out Line (BOL) is established to encourage the development of play from the backfield.
  • The Build-Out Line shall be marked across the field midway between the top of the penalty area and the halfway line.
  • Goalkeeper Possession:  The opposing team must move behind the build-out line when the goalkeeper has possession.  At any time, the    goalkeeper may throw the ball, roll the ball, or place the ball on the ground so he, she, or a teammate can kick the ball.  As soon as the        goalkeeper releases the ball, opponents may cross the build-out line.
  • Goal Kicks:  The opposing team must move behind the build-out line for goal kicks.  Opponents may only cross back over the Build-Out      Line once the ball is put in play.  The ball is in play when it is kicked.  The goalkeeper or the player taking the kick does not have to wait for  the opposing players to move behind the build-out line.
  • The build-­‐out line shall be used as the line to determine offside. Players cannot be penalized for an offside infraction between the halfway  line and the build-‐out line.
